It's a new year and what better opportunity to evaluate where you are in life and reconnect with and clarify your values, dreams, and goals!

It can be a powerful process, and it is the first step to making this your best year yet!

Our year unexpectedly started off with a reno in my daughter's bedroom! We purchased an art easel with a table for her Christmas but in order to fit it into her room we needed to remove the huge wardrobe, which she wasn't even using.

It ended up turning into a huge domino effect throughout most of the house, but I am actually happy that this has forced us to finally start checking off some of the items on our list of house projects! So I am excited and determined that this is the year we will start our house projects and turn this house into a home - finally! Now if we could just get the almost 3 year old to stop writing on the walls and painting the carpets and furniture!

I have come up with 12 questions to get you started making your New Year Resolutions (or goals as I like to refer to them).

To make the most of this exercise, I have made a worksheet printable bundle just for our newsletter subscribers! These are available in the free printables library, so be sure to sign up today if you are not already a subscriber.

Be sure to print out the goal planning printable bundle and set some time aside to focus on writing down your answers.

Here are 12 questions to help make your New Year resolutions and help with your goal planning. Print out the Goal Planning Worksheet included in the printable bundle and write your answers down.

1. What matters the most to you in your life, what are your priorities? Be sure to align your goals with what matters most to you. Consider making a personal mission statement for yourself.

2. What is the one word you would choose to be your focus/theme for this year? Explain your choice.

3. What would you be the most happy about completing this year?

4. What major indulgence would you be willing to experience this year?

5. What would you most like to change about yourself this year/

6. What one talent are you willing to explore this year?

7. What is one thing you'd like to learn this year?

8. What brings you the most joy and how are you going to have more of that this year?

9. What do you want most in your life and career? Imagine the life and career you want.

10. What do you think your biggest risk will be this year?

11. What is one bad habit you would like to break this year?

12. If you are married, in a relationship, or have children, what would you change in your relationship?

Create your goals using the above questions as a guide and list them on the worksheet included in the printable bundle. One of the things to ask yourself while going through the Goal Planning Worksheet is, are they S.M.A.R.T. goals? Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely.

Now I want you to think about what you can do to accomplish your above goals. What stands in the way of achieving them? What are the steps you need to take to achieve these goals? Which people in your life will help support you and keep you accountable for your goals? Feel free to write the answers down in your notes.

You deserve the life you want! You can make your dreams happen, just take the first step!

Once you have your goals in place, take some time to come up with a plan as to how you are going to accomplish them throughout the year.

Do this by writing down the specific steps you need to take, then break them down even further into bite-size pieces, and follow through with them by creating a deadline.

Use the handy Goal Planner Calendar to schedule and keep track of these bite-size pieces.

Be sure to display your goals somewhere prominent so you can stay focused throughout the year.

Next, come up with one word for the year that will keep you focused. Print up your One Word and display it somewhere prominent so you can be reminded throughout the year what you want to focus on.
